The mission of the College of Languages and Translation is to prepare graduates who are qualified linguistically, cognitively and skillfully through their studies in the fields of language, translation and literature; the things that enable them to join various labour market sectors including translation, teaching, tourism and media.

The mission of the college extends to incorporate scientific research to prepare cadres capable of meeting unique academic standards in the fields of language, translation and literature. This is achieved through recruiting and preparing academic expertise capable of utilizing technology in the education process guided by an effective academic administration with the aim of assisting the community, preserving cultural identity, and helping in establishing effective dialogue with other cultures.

The vision of the college of Foreign Languages and Translation is to be a distinguished educational institution in the field of translation and language development. It seeks to reach excellence and provide a proper education for competitiveness nationally and regionally. This will serve the purposes of comprehensive development for a better nation.

Deeply aware of the essential need for competent graduates in the field of foreign languages and translation, the founders of MUST inaugurated, since the university’s inception, a B.A. program offered by the College of Foreign Languages and Translation. 

The College of Foreign Languages and Translation incorporates 11 academic departments. Each department is equipped with qualified staff members who have wide expertise in teaching and in the practical field of translation. Besides the undergraduate program, the college has inaugurated postgraduate programs in the English, German and French departments in the fields of literature, linguistics and translation.

 The various college departments, furthermore, offer a variety of activities that serve the community as well as interdisciplinary scholarships that develop innovative models for the study and assimilation of languages, literature, and translation. From this juncture, the family of Foreign Languages & Translation welcome you all on board this new venture, wishing you success in your journey towards academic excellence, knowledge leadership and effective communal participation.

• Agreement between the college and the Confucius Institute in China, through which a number of Chinese professors and teachers are brought in to teach at the college. The students are also sent to study in China for six months. They can also join summer camps there, through which they can obtain scholarships to study master’s degrees for free.

• Agreement between the college and the University of Vienna in Austria, where a number of lecturers come to teach in the German language department, and a number of famous writers and authors come to give lectures for the students.

• Agreements with the Italian Cultural Center, the Turkish Cultural Center, and the Japanese Foundation. Through these agreements, students can obtain free scholarships to study for a period of six months.

• The college’s new regulations, which began last year and are being implemented this year, also include a field training requirement, which is a “graduation requirement,” whereby the student studies 30 credit hours in institutions outside the college, such as, Horus Academy, Nefert Company, the State Information Service, and In Skills International Schools, through which students are prepared as teachers of foreign languages, especially in German and English languages. 

• A cooperation agreement between the French Language Department and Al-Ahram Hebdo newspaper, where a group of students are sent to train on text editing and translation from Arabic to French and vice versa.
