Introduction

The Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry Department is one of the important pillars of the college of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Manufacturing – Misr University for Science and Technology, where the department contributes to achieving the vision and mission of the college and the university to prepare an advanced pharmacist who keeps pace with recent developments in the field of the drug industry worldwide. Conforms to reference academic standards, to support acquiring of self-learning skills.

To able to synthesize and develop drugs, mass production economically in the face of the growing numbers of diseases.

To achieve this aim, students are provided with the fundamental principles of different classes of organic chemistry of aliphatic, aromatic and heterocyclic compounds. In addition, principles of stereochemistry and the relationship between the three-dimensional structure of molecules and biological activity. Moreover, study the processes of identification, preparation and purification of some organic compounds can be used as pro-drugs, and uses spectroscopic tools (infrared, nuclear magnetic resonance, ultraviolet, and mass spectrometry) to elucidate the molecular structure of organic compounds.

This is in parallel with the development of research in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries from raw materials and auxiliary materials through conducting scientific research that contributes to the development and production of new drugs with high biological efficacy and fewer side effects, while working according to specific mechanisms and standards aimed at serving both the environment and society.

The vision of the department of Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry is a part of a cooperative effort throughout the College to achieve its vision by fully preparing students for various aspects of Pharmaceutical Organic chemistry.

We envision our students becoming skilled and competent in all topics covered by the department, including organic reactions, their mechanisms, synthesis of organic molecules, and elucidation of structures.

Provide learning experiences based on the best educational practices for all students served by the department. Provide teaching based on the latest and most advanced trends in different fields of pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry.

  1. Prepare students for professional pharmacy practice and develop their skills through studying pharmaceutical organic chemistry.
  2. Provide the student with ethics and professional values that qualify him to work in various pharmaceutical fields
  3. Develop students’ interaction towards uncovering the problems of the surrounding environment and develop their solving skills towards the advancement of the regional community.
  4. Participate in the fields of pharmaceutical manufacturing, analysis, and quality control
