Medical Caravan of the College of Medicine in Matrouh Governorate

Prof. Dr. Nihad El‐Mahboub, Acting University President, Dean of the College of Medicine, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Memorial Souad Kafafi University Hospital.

The College of Medicine organized the sixth medical caravan for the 2024/2025 academic year in collaboration with Matrouh Governorate, the Matrouh Health Directorate, and the Homeland Defenders Party.

The service medical caravan was set up at the Sidi Barani Center in Matrouh, located at the premises of Barani Central Hospital, by providing nine free outpatient clinics in the following medical specialties:

– Internal Medicine

– Cardiology and Vascular Medicine

– Pediatrics

– Urology

– General Surgery

– Orthopedic Surgery

– Neurosurgery

– Ophthalmology and Eye Surgery

– Anesthesiology

Over a period of three days, from February 12 to 14, a total of 1,336 consultations were conducted, with all necessary medications provided free of charge. Patients requiring extended diagnostic tests or minor surgical interventions were referred to Matrouh General Hospital—in coordination with the Matrouh Health Directorate and following surgical evaluation at the caravan’s anesthesiology clinic.

Additionally, optometric measurements were provided for 132 individuals attending the caravan’s ophthalmology clinic.

Furthermore, referrals were coordinated for those needing complex therapeutic or surgical interventions to the Memorial Souad Kafafi University Hospital to complete their required treatment.

Major General Khaled Shuaib, Governor of Matrouh, inspected the caravan’s activities and commended the efforts made to deliver an outstanding level of medical service. He concluded his visit by honoring the College of Medicine team operating the caravan.

This initiative is part of the College’s plan and the University’s vision for medical caravans, aimed at serving the community and promoting environmental development.
